Short Description:
Gipuzkoa Science and Technology Park, created in San Sebastian in 1994, was opened in 1997. The Park’s mission is to decisively contribute to technological development and innovation in Gipuzkoa, in a sustainable way, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and transfer of technology between businesses, technology agents and universities, promoting the creation and growth of innovating businesses and offering the most advanced facilities and added value services. Nowadays, the Park has been expanded in the province and is made up of three interconnected-campuses in Gipuzkoa.
It gathers together 97 research & technology centres, universities, innovation developers and a good selection of the most advanced and cutting edge organisations in the Basque Country from innovative sectors with potential for development. With a staff of nearly 4500 highly qualified people, it represents a reference point for researchers in the most prominent industrial sectors such us, ICTs, biomedical, energy, nanotechnology,,.. providing an excellent location for entrepreneurs and businesses in a global world (companies directory publication).
Infrastructure:
The Geostrategic position of San Sebastián – Gipuzkoa close to the French border makes it be a logistics hub of interconnection Madrid -and- Paris, in the Atlantic axis, where the city plays an important role in the network of trans – European transport (by road, sea, air, and rail), with the rail axis for high speed train French and Basque future connections of the capitals.
