Intermediate bodies and the innovation system

Intermediate bodies and the innovation system

Since the beginning of the year, APTE has been working on strengthening collaborations and alliances with other entities and agents of the innovation system to promote the design of a new framework in which to activate, energize and revitalize this system, after the lethargy of the economic crisis.

In APTE we believe that without this new scenario, the activity developed by science and technology parks and the rest of intermediate organizations would not have the same impact, so in the agenda of our association, during 2017, this objective is a priority.

From our point of view, the renewal of the national innovation system must be based on three pillars: greater support for the generation of wealth through the promotion and strengthening of the business application of R&D&I, the increase in the employability of university graduates and the internationalisation of R&D&I.

We believe that these three pillars, GDP growth, job creation and competitiveness in international markets, should be the basis on which to build this new system, which is the main tool our country must use to achieve economic stability and prosperity.

However, in order to achieve these three objectives, it is absolutely necessary to establish contact and collaboration between the different agents involved in the innovation processes of intermediate bodies, such as science and technology parks. Without this intermediation activity, the processes that would ultimately lead to the above-mentioned objectives would not be triggered.

Therefore, in this new design of the national innovation system, we believe that it is essential to recognize and support the role played by these intermediate bodies that"trigger" the relationships, cooperation and processes that must take place within an innovation system in order to be effective.

This support and recognition should be translated into specific programmes, within the new National Innovation Plan, focused on promoting cooperation and coordination of the activity of these intermediate agents and in which the impact of their activity on the objectives of this Plan can be evaluated.

For all the above, APTE is open to collaboration with the rest of intermediate bodies and the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness to work towards a renewed and improved innovation system.
